Hocking College- State of the College, Year in Review.
A year of many firsts for Hocking College; as the pandemic was ending and the supply chain issues were resolving, the college could finally complete its Equine Teaching and Training program arena building. Hocking hosted its first event - a rodeo. There were over 800 attendees at the event, and several Hocking students performed in the rodeo; a fantastic event for all!
Hocking College hosted the Community Colleges of Appalachia Conference on November 3-4, 2022. This was the college's first major conference held at The Lodge at Hocking College. There were 55 attendees from 12 different Appalachian states.
In a remarkable display of academic excellence, the Class of 2022 from Hocking College’s Dental program has left an indelible mark on the world of dental hygiene. Graduating in December, these exceptional individuals have achieved extraordinary results, setting new standards in their field. In addition, the Class of 2022 achieved a 94.5% success rate on the prestigious NDHBE (National Dental Hygiene Board Exam), a testament to their comprehensive knowledge and expertise. But their accomplishments did not stop there. They conquered the CDCA ADEX (OSCE and Hands-on) examination with a perfect score of 100%. In addition, the graduating class achieved a 94.4% success rate on the CDCA Anesthesia Board Exam.
As they embark on their professional journeys, armed with unmatched knowledge and skills, the Class of 2022 is poised to make a lasting impact in the world of dental hygiene.
The 16 graduates of Hocking College's Autumn Police Academy have successfully passed their state exams. These graduates have proven their mettle and commitment to excellence with a remarkably high score of 94.5% and an impressive average of 85.5%.
This exceptional batch of aspiring law enforcement professionals has excelled academically and made strides in securing their future careers. Ten of the 16 graduates have already been hired for full- or part-time positions within various law enforcement agencies. In January this year, Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost bestowed a prestigious honor upon the Hocking College Police Academy. Recognizing their unwavering commitment to excellence in law enforcement training, the Academy was designated a STAR Academy—an exclusive distinction reserved for agencies surpassing expectations in peace officers' basic training.
Hocking College has been bestowed with the highly esteemed Collegiate Purple Star award, joining the ranks of 33 public and independent colleges and universities nationwide that have demonstrated unwavering support and dedication to the military population. This prestigious honor is a testament to Hocking's commitment to providing military students with the best practices and services.
Hocking College is looking to connect more with its K-12 partners. As a community college, Hocking understands that surrounding high schools seek more opportunities for their students to earn college credits. So this year, the college took a new spin on its professional development day. One hundred people traveled to New Lexington schools, where they held teacher and student panels to assist them in improving their partnership.
