Hocking College welcomes new director to lead Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering Technologies Program

Trevor Warfield headhsot

July 9, 2024 (Nelsonville, Ohio) - Hocking College (Hocking) recently welcomed Trevor Warfield as the director of the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Technologies Program. With a career in both the military and industrial sectors, he brings over two decades of expertise in advanced manufacturing training and education.

Warfield's experience includes roles at Entek IRD and Rockwell Automation, where he focused on vibration analysis equipment for industrial predictive maintenance. He also taught non-credit electro-mechanical classes at Columbus State Community College in the Advanced Manufacturing Industrial Lab for 16 years. Most recently, he spent nearly three years as an Assistant Professor of Instruction in Engineering Technologies at Ohio University Lancaster.

In his new role, Warfield plans to establish Hocking's Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering Technologies Program as the leading spot for industrial manufacturers to hire qualified and credentialed graduates.

Warfield said he is excited about providing a pathway to prosperity for Hocking graduates who want to pursue an engineering technology career in advanced manufacturing.

His goal is to create an educational pathway beginning with middle school summer camps and extending through high school pre-apprenticeship programs. This will lead to the Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering Technologies Program at Hocking, ultimately helping create a steady hiring pool for industrial manufacturers in Ohio.

Additionally, he plans to strengthen the program's relevance and effectiveness through strategic initiatives and collaborations. By cultivating relationships with regional industry and K-12 schools, he seeks to build upon the Appalachian Semiconductor Education and Technical (ASCENT) Ecosystem, an Intel-driven network focused on developing high-tech workers for Intel and regional manufacturers.

Under Warfield's leadership, Hocking’s Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering Technologies Program anticipates becoming a leading resource for industry-ready graduates.

"My goal is to work closely with regional schools and industry leaders to establish a network that provides foundational training standards, shared resources, and accreditation," Warfield said. I am also looking forward to guiding students through their educational journeys by promoting critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork."

“There are many amazing opportunities, not only in this region but in Ohio and throughout this country, for careers in advanced manufacturing, Warfield continued. “Brace yourself, because Hocking College is on the way to being a proven resource for Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering Technology training and graduates.”
