Hocking College is inviting foster and kinship youth ages 15 to 17 to attend a free week-long summer camp designed just for them, happening July 13–19 on the Nelsonville campus.
The free Fostering Talent Summer Camp is a unique opportunity for young people with foster care or kinship experience to get a feel for college life, explore career options, and meet mentors who’ve walked a similar path. Campers will stay in residence halls, eat in the campus dining facilities, and take part in hands-on sessions focused on building skills and confidence.
“We created Fostering Talent to meet young people where they are and give them space to see what’s possible for their future,” said Dr. Betty Young, president of Hocking College. “This camp is one more way we’re showing up for students with foster care or kinship backgrounds, making sure they feel seen, supported, and set up to take their next step.”
The camp is part of Hocking College’s continued work with Ohio Reach, a statewide effort that supports students with foster care and kinship backgrounds in pursuing higher education.
