Hocking College receives Campus Community Grant from Ohio Department of Higher Education

NELSONVILLE, Ohio – Hocking College (Hocking) has been awarded a $19,000 grant from the Ohio Department of Higher Education (ODHE) through the Campus Community Grant Program.

The funding will support various student organizations within the college, such as the Rock Student Ministry, the International Student Club and the Black Student Union.

“Our college is committed to creating a campus where students of all backgrounds feel welcome and supported,” said Dr. Betty Young, president of Hocking College. “We are grateful to the ODHE for providing us with the funding needed to support our students as they continue to thrive.”

The grant will aid in implementing programs that encourage respect and understanding among student cultures. This will strengthen Hocking’s mission to support student organizations of any background. These efforts align with ODHE’s mission to “foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful education environment” for Ohio’s colleges and universities.

Additionally, ODHE has offered Hocking the opportunity to apply for up to $10,000 in supplemental funding to continue its initiatives into the fall 2025 semester.
